I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday! With 2012 behind us it’s time to refocus our efforts on permanently creating safe access here in San Diego and helping Americans for Safe Access achieve the same across the nation.
To help kick off the national effort this year, ASA will be holding a National Medical Cannabis Unity Conference in Washington D.C. from February 22-25th.
“This is our chance to show the Obama Administration and the new Congress our strength in unity – and to make our voice heard like never before in the nation’s capitol! The conference is a chance to network with other activists from around the country, attend panels and workshops to improve your skills and increase your knowledge, and to engage in direct citizen-lobbying efforts in the halls of Congress on Monday, February 25th.”

Also, just this week, ASA filed an amicus brief in support of County Officials in Mendocino County to fight a sweeping federal subpoena filed in October, seeking “any and all records” for the county’s medical marijuana cultivation program.
Here in San Diego over the last two months at chapter meetings, we have been working on strategic planning for 2013 and have drafted preliminary plans for court support, educational seminars, lobbying efforts, direct action, and much more throughout the year. All actions designed to support local, state, and national progress towards greater access to medical marijuana for patients and research. The next chapter meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 8th will include part three of the strategic planning sessions where committees to execute the plans made in the first two sessions will be setup. If you are interested in helping us get things done in San Diego by either heading up a committee or helping finalize our plans, you won’t want to miss this meeting!
